For any student, the work and rigors of attending college courses is a challenge on a daily basis. For students challenged with illness, handling these additional obstacles is truly admirable.


Award opportunities for students living with, challenged by or have overcome illness exist to help such students achieve their goals. Such students prove, time and time again, that anyone can accomplish educational goals with the right motivation and determination.

Ram Scholarship for the Arts




Deadline: 3/15/15



Available to: Minimum Age 15 Years



Award Amount: $500

The Ram Scholarship for the Arts is available to students who were diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 17 and 35.


Special consideration will be given to glioblastoma multiforme survivors.


You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this award.


This award must be used for an art related expense.

Powering Education Scholarship



Deadline: 4/01/15



Available To: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5



Award Amount: $2,000


The Powering Education Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students who are living with disabilities.


You must have attended high school in the state of Maine and have at least a "B" average GPA to be eligible for this award.


You must also submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay on how your disability has helped shape your view of the world and you as a person.

LI2Day Walk Scholarship




Deadline: 4/10/15



Available to: College Freshman



Award Amount: $2,500

Sponsored by the Long Island 2 Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, the LI2Day Walk Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors residing in Nassau and Suffolk County.


You must be residing with a parent or guardian who is a breast cancer survivor or other women's cancer, or resided with a parent or guardian whom you lost to breast cancer or other women's cancer to be eligible for this award.

PBTF One-Year Scholarship




Deadline: 4/20/15



Available To: College Freshman through Graduate Student, Year 5



Award Amount: $1,000

Sponsored by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, the PBTF One-Year Scholarship is available to current college students who have survived a primary malignant or non-malignant central nervous system brain and/or spinal cord tumor.


You must have been diagnosed at or before age 19 to be eligible for this award.

Elaine Chapin Memorial Scholarship

Available To: College Freshman through College Senior



Award Amount: $1,000

The Elaine Chapin Memorial Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students who have been impacted by multiple sclerosis.


You must be in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award.

Hard of Hearing or Deaf Scholarship

Available To: College Freshman through College Senior



Award Amount: $1,000

The Hard of Hearing or Deaf Scholarship is available to full-time students who have a clinically significant bilateral hearing loss.


You must be pursuing a bachelor's degree at a college or university in the United States, be a U.S. citizen, and have a minimum 3.2 GPA to be eligible for this award.

Joshua Gomes Memorial Scholarship Fund




Deadline: 7/15/15



Available To: College Freshman through Graduate Student, 5th Year



Award Amount: $1,000

The Joshua Gomes Memorial Scholarship Fund is open to full- time undergraduate and graduate students who are HIV positive or have AIDS.


You must be accepted into or enrolled in a U.S. college or university to be eligible for this award.


A doctor's letter, transcripts, college acceptance letter, three letters of recommendation, and essay are required.
